Sept 8: Brian Cole, founding member and bass player with The Association was born on this day in 1942...



... he died in August 1972 from a heroin overdose.



During the 1960s, the Association had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival. Cole was a member of the group when they recorded their biggest hits; "Along Comes Mary," "Cherish," "No Fair at All," "Goodbye Columbus," "Never my Love," and "Windy."


As of 2010, they Assocation are still performing. Cole's son, Jordan Cole, is now a member of The Association, providing keyboards, guitar, vocals and drums. Brant Cole is a drummer for the Los Angeles based band, The Blackout Trust.
